Bio-Based Malodor Control Technologies

  • AFT-O-Sorb™ Max is a proprietary, patent pending,  innovative malodor control solution that employs a dual-action approach for effective and long-lasting odor control. It features a unique blend of sophisticated odor counteractants that chemically or physically interact with malodor molecules in the air, effectively neutralizing and breaking down unpleasant smells at their source rather than simply covering them up. These active neutralizing agents are combined with a specialized fixative system that ensures the product adheres to surfaces, trapping lingering odor compounds and delivering persistent freshness that actively controls residual and recurring malodors long after application.

  • AFT-O-Sorb™ M functions through molecular neutralization rather than sensory masking. Its active quaternary compounds interact electrostatically with malodor molecules, forming stable, non-volatile complexes. This reaction alters the odorant’s molecular structure, reducing its volatility and preventing it from being detected by olfactory receptors. The result is a permanent reduction of airborne malodors within formulated systems.

  • AFT-O-Sorb™ U functions through Primarily composed of undecylenate esters, the AFT-O-Sorb™ U products primarily control malodors through two key mechanisms: Odor Neutralization/Counteraction and Masking.

    • Vapor-Phase Bonding:  This mechanism involves the undecylenate molecule chemically or physically interacting with the malodor molecule (the "malsensory agent") while they are both in the air (the vapor phase.)

    • Reduced Perception: This interaction or bonding changes the malodor molecule's properties (such as its volatility or electron pattern) so that it is no longer perceived as malodorous by the human nose. The result is a sensory and analytically measurable reduction of the bad smell, not just covering it up.

    • Targeting Broad Malodors: Undecylenates are effective against a broad range of malodors, including sulfur-based compounds (like mercaptans), nitrogen-based compounds (like amines), and short-chain fatty acids, which are common in tobacco smoke, body odor, and decay.
